Managing diabetes can become overwhelming. There are many different factors that impact your diabetes which can be confusing to keep track of. For example, sleep, exercise, stress, carbs, and sugars. While there are dozens of applications on iPhones and Androids to keep track, many of them fall short in certain areas.
Suggestic, a new all-in-one application is hoping to change the way you manage your type 2 diabetes. Suggestic is attempting to incorporate scientific research and clinical programs into the everyday lives of type 2 diabetics. The creators of the applications are calling Suggestic a “Lifestyle GPS” that will function as a “personal assistant” for anyone with type 2 diabetes.
The creators behind Suggestic are trying to bring personalized care and plans to every diabetic, instead of relying on general ideas that work for “most people.” They believe that because everyone is unique with different metabolisms, activity levels, DNA, and much more.
So how do they create a personalized plan for everyone that gets the app? The team has incorporated dozens of personalized questions to create the best plan for you. If you have the information, you can upload your genetic and health data. The app works similarly to IBM’s Watson computer, which can learn continuously from information it gathers.
As soon as you enter all of your information, the app will develop the plan for you. It will even include any suggestions to improve your health based on the information you entered. Having all this information on your phone can eliminate some of the confusion you would have otherwise. Typically, to have a unique plan, you would have to schedule an appointment with your doctor, a nutritionist, a personal trainer, and several other trained professionals. Your personalized plan provides plenty of useful and exciting information.
One of the many things Suggestic can give you is restaurant suggestions based on your location. The restaurant recommendations are based on price preferences and health choices. The app will also offer suggestions for choosing the right food at more than 500,000 restaurants. Don’t feel like going out to eat? The app also has over 1 million healthy recipes for you to choose from that you can search by using different criteria making easy to find exactly what you’re craving.
Suggestic can also help get you moving and get your daily exercise. Suggestic will provide answers to any question you have regarding exercising or physical activity. For people that are just beginning to exercise, they could have many questions that would normally prevent them from trying new things or exercising at all.
Not only will Suggestic make your plan more convenient, but it is also harder to forget when it’s in the palm of your hand. Using your phone instead of having countless papers, books, and pamphlets will be beneficial for those diabetics constantly on the go. Instead of just trying to remember what time you were supposed to take your medications or which foods you shouldn’t eat, Suggestic will have all those answers at your fingertips.
Over 29 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Of those 29 million a large portion of those will have iPhone and access to the Suggestic app. Meaning that this app could have a significant impact on the diabetic community and how diabetes is managed every day. With everything from reminders to take medications to reminding you to be active, the Suggestic app will make sure you remember all your diabetes management goals.
For those of you ready to download the app right now, you’ll have to wait just a little longer. The application is still being developed, but will be released for beta testing in April of 2016.
